Is it a secret shopper portal? - No.
Swagbucks is an online rewards website that pays you for your time taking surveys, viewing videos, signing up for stuff and more.
Swagbucks partners with companies and agency advertising firms to present you with their offers, usually before their offers go mainstream to the general public. Swagbucks collects commissions and partnership fees by the companies and share revenue with you.
The first thing to get started with Swagbucks is to sign up for a free account. Then you’ll be shown around the inside of the Swagbucks website by virtual tour. Then, you’re off to explore new offers to participate in!..
Earnings are modest however. Members report earning between $5 to $80 a month. Their strategy for using Swagbucks is primarily to save up SB points throughout the year so they can fund their holiday expenses and exchange SB points for gift cards, merchandise or cash. Members use Swagbucks to stockpile cash funds for planned vacations, too.
Making money doing surveys online sounds a little suspicious when you first hear about the idea. Some make money online from surveys websites are frauds. You can tell they are because they insist you pay to play. But not Swagbucks.
Swagbucks is actually a brand of Prodege, LLC an internet and media company founded by, Josef Gorowitz and established in 2005. The company's mission is to “create rewarding moments” for website visitors. I believe they have accomplished that.
The only real issue members have directly with Swagbucks is getting qualified for surveys, the ones that are lengthy in time and can earn you more money. They make things difficult for a reason too.
As you’ve learned, Swagbucks gets paid by companies and advertisers. They are their bread and butter, not you.
Here’s how things work… You begin by choosing a survey. The surveys starts out by asking you to fill out personal profile information about who you are without asking about your personal identity. You begin taking the survey and answering questions.
Then you get to a certain point inside the survey where it begins asking you about more profile information. Again no personal identity questions.
The thing here is, if your profile starts to stray from their criteria for that particular survey, the system will disqualify you from that survey. Therefore forfeiting everything you’ve done to that point. No reward, just lost time.
And it’s not fair because that advertiser just collected a bunch of things about you but you get nothing in return.
The system keeps track of your profile information answers too. So if it detects that you’re only answering survey questions to get through to the end of the survey so you get paid, or trying to “game the system” it’ll stop presenting you with lucrative offers to participate in.
This isn’t something Swagbucks reveals to you either. These lessons you have to learn the hard way. So - you’re welcome, and now you know.
So if you hear someone saying “Swagbucks is a scam” it’s likely due to something like this that they feel Swagbucks is a scam. Otherwise, when you do qualify to complete a survey in its entirety, you do get paid.
No scam websites ever give back money. Swagbucks does - if you qualify.
Swagbucks are points. Most paid surveys websites pay in points. Swagbucks calls their’s “Swagbucks”.
One (1) Swagbuck (SB) is roughly equal to $0.01 - $0.10 cents and can be redeemed for gift cards/certificates, game tokens, mobile data or cash processed through PayPal.
Swagbucks are typically awarded immediately after completing a task.
If you choose to earn SB points for every dollar you spend by shopping through their library of 700 retailers doing a “Shop & Earn”, expect to receive your SB points 32-75 days from the date of your purchase.
If you book a vacation through Swagbucks 'Discover' offers, expect to receive those SB points 75 days after the travel is completed.
Amazon purchases typically take 32-45 days from the shipment date of your order for your SB to be rewarded.
Any website offering to give away something, particularly money in exchange for your time and opinion is bound to receive some scrutiny.
What’s the catch?
The catch is, the companies and advertisers who provide the surveys and questionnaires want to collect as much personal information they can legally get away with about your particular demographic.
They’re doing this so they can ultimately target and bombard your demographic with advertisements that are so well crafted, they end up saving millions of dollars in ad spend costs all the while making millions in the process.
So if you’re wondering whether Swagbucks is safe or not? That all depends on how comfortable you feel surrendering your soul’s DNA over to corporations.
First, let’s assume fast means making money that very same day. And keep in mind, one Swagbuck (SB) is roughly equal to $0.01 - $0.10 cents.
Since we only have 24 hours in a single day, it’s going to take some time to accumulate the minimum withdrawal amount of whatever desired reward you’ve chosen.
So, even though fast doesn’t necessarily mean instant in this scenario, let’s take a look at the quickest ways to get SB points… as fast as possible.
